New Lanark Visitor Centre

The award-winning New Lanark Visitor Centre tells the fascinating story of the cotton mill village of New Lanark which was founded in the 18th century. There are many attractions to enjoy within the Visitor Centre, including: Annie McLeod Experience Ride, Roof Garden, Robert Owen’s School for Children, Millworkers’ House in 1820s and 1930s, Robert Owen’s House, Village Store and the Working Textile Machinery / People & Cotton Exhibition. A full day at New Lanark Visitor Centre can be complemented by lunch in the Mill Café, and a browse in the two shopping areas – the Mill Shop & Village Store.

Falls of Clyde

Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve

New Lanark World Heritage Site is surrounded by native woodlands and is the gateway to the famous Falls of Clyde: ideal for woodland walks this May Bank Holiday and wildlife spotting at the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve. Look out for wildlife and you may catch a glimpse of kingfishers, otters, deer and badgers.

Clearburn Picnic & Play Area

In March 2016 Clearburn was awarded ‘Best Picnic Area within a UK Heritage Location’ at the Hudsons Heritage Awards 2016. In September 2014, we were delighted to open our brand new Clearburn Picnic and Play Area which will be a fantastic resource for the community and visitors alike. The development of the project was generously supported by The Big Lottery Fund and The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership. With adventure play areas, a giant willow storytelling dome, a secret hideaway tree house, and bug hotels (to name just a few of the features of the Play Area!) there is more than enough to keep the kids entertained.
