Easter activities at New Lanark

Easter is almost here and it’s the perfect time to be thinking about a day out with your family! Look no further than New Lanark World Heritage Site. We have lots of activities going on here over the Easter Holidays to suit all ages, from wee kids to ‘big kids’! We are located less than an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and have a range of facilities onsite, like our Mill Café, Mill Shop and picnic areas – meaning you really can enjoy a full day out here. Daily Guided Tours – From 1st April

Free Easter Activities – 3rd to 17th April

The following Easter themed activities will be available at New Lanark from 3rd – 17th April:

  • Easter colouring-in (self-led in our Mill 3 ‘Recreation Area’)
  • Easter Stories (running once an hour, at half past the hour from 10.30am – 3.30pm in our Mill 3 ‘Recreation Area’)
  • Easter Trail (pick up at our Visitor Centre reception)

Archaeology Taster Tours – 16th to 18th April

Archaeology Taster Tours – Sunday 16th, Monday 17th & Tuesday 18th April. Running at 11am and 2pm. A unique opportunity to get a taster of archaeology by seeing volunteers at work excavating post-abandonment deposits from 1 Double Row’s basement. There will be an archaeologist on hand to explain the process and let you know about any interesting “finds”. As well as visiting the Double Row tenement block, the tour will also visit the site of Mantilla Row where you’ll have a chance to find out more about this lost building in New Lanark’s history. Scanathon – 17th April

Shining Lives will be a spectacular sound, light and projection event taking place on 20th & 21st October. On Monday 17th April, New Lanark are inviting people to bring in their photographs and stories of people who worked in the industries of New Lanark, Lanark and the Clyde Valley to be recorded at our ‘scanathon’. These will be scanned and then incorporated into the New Lanark archive and may be projected onto our historic buildings as part of Shining Lives! New Lanark are particularly interested to hear from anyone who has connections with people who used to live in Double Row and Mantilla Row at New Lanark. Click here to find out more.

 

Knit New Lanark – 18th April

Grab your knitting needles and craft supplies and celebrate World Heritage Day with Dig It! 2017 through yarnbombing, taster sessions, interactive workshops and plenty of tea.

New Lanark is a perfect day out this Easter for all ages where visitors can explore the New Lanark Visitor Attraction, enjoy a guided tour, walk to the Falls of Clyde or simply enjoy a picnic at Clearburn Play and Picnic Area. In the village there are also Mill Shops, the informal Mill Café for light bites and the stunning Mill One Restaurant for exquisite Scottish dining.
