Ted’s January & February at New Lanark

Ted’s January & February at New Lanark

Hi everyone! Ted here, it’s great to be back and I can’t wait to tell you about all of the exciting things that I get up to at New Lanark this year.

Back in January we kick-started the year with our annual Family Stargazing event! It was a complete sell-out with over 150 people attending each night to take part in fun space crafts, get their faces painted and listen to fascinating talks by the Clydesdale and Glasgow Astronomical Societies. The weather wasn’t great so we didn’t see too many actual stars but everyone seems to have had a good time regardless! Here’s me ready to join Tim Peake up on the ISS!

After the excitement of Stargazing, I’ve been enjoying some wintery walks around New Lanark – and how different they have been! The two photos below were taken a day apart, so you can see that we’ve been enjoying some lovely sunshine as well as being transformed back into a Winter Wonderland a couple of times!

All these walks have been a perfect excuse to warm up in the Mill Café with a tasty bowl of soup and hot drink. If I’ve been extra good I’ll treat myself to a homemade scone or even some New Lanark Ice Cream!

On 18th February we opened New Lanark’s first exhibition of the year! It’s called Keeping Glasgow in Stitches and it’s a display of 12 beautiful (and massive!) banners that were created in 1990 to celebrate Glasgow being named the European City of Culture! Over 600 people from different community groups across Glasgow came together to work on the banners. If you fancy seeing it for yourself the exhibition is open to the public for free everyday until 31st March 2016, 10am-4pm.

Coming up in March next month we have our Easter Egg-Stravaganza on 27th & 28th – tickets are on sale now! We’ll also be running Daily Guided Tours and Kids’ Craft Workshops during the Easter Holidays in April.

See you then!
